Tony Egan

A native of Liverpool,
England, Tony hails from a rather dysfunctional, musical family. He inherited his vocal
talents from his father, Brian Egan, the one-time lead crooner in the Liverpool
cabaret circuit for the bar band "Regency Creme."
Hanging out in the Pubs
of Liverpool, Tony befriended a group of African percussionists, avante garde
artists, and a slew of other like-minded, dysfunctional, musical bohemians. One night,
around the ripe old age of "20ish," after only ten minutes partying
with Tony, the African band invited him to join their policy of musical touring,
jealousy, and general mayhem. Tony, of course, fit in perfectly, and after
a short beer drinking initiation at either "Ye Ol' Crack" or
"Cafe Berlin" in Liverpool — he
really can't remember — he
decided that hanging out with this crowd might afford him the opportunity to
stretch his artistic horizons.
As luck would have
it, by age 30, some good things DID finally rub off on Tony. He decided to leave Liverpool and
the legacy of "Regency Creme" and jumped the first bus out of town
for great adventure.
Thus,
Tony ended up touring various venues and jazz festivals both in Europe and the
U.S., including the New Orleans Jazz Festival. He also sang background
vocals for such bands as "Echo and the Bunnymen" and "The Real
Thing," and was one of the founding members of Earthbeat Arts Trust, an
organization founded to bring bands to a variety of underprivileged people.
Eventually, Tony co-produced a couple of Earthbeat spin offs, "Visual
Stress" and "Moood." [Kif, Karla, Carl-John, Aminat,
Jonathon, Dave, Chloe, and Maxine... they know where I live.]
Tony currently resides
up on the Hills of Tonyland. They think he's okay... or so they say, but when he's not
spending time with his beautiful wife, Karen, or imitating Frank Sinatra at
several Palm Springs Karaoke bars, you can usually find him singing lead for the
"Doctor Wu" band...
